Our First Pumpkin Carving

So I am a derelict mother. I have never before carved pumpkins with my children! I know, I know. But I made up for it here. I got a very large pumpkin and we set about carving it.

Madalyn flat out refused to touch the insides and Corbin only did it this once. He thought it was pretty gross.

But they were pretty excited about the idea of it.

I of course did all the carving. Since the tools are sharp.

The Castle's Halloween Party

So my sister did this and I decided to try it. I know it looks weird so let me explain. I was making jell-o worms. And to do that you have to get a whole bunch of straws and put them in a quart size cardboard container. Then you pour the jell-o in. When it has set this is what you get after peeling away the cardboard:

And this is what the worms look like after you squeeze them out of the straws!

They were actually really good. Slippery and slimy, but tasty.

Oh yes I also made pudding eyeballs! Those were really freaky! I made all of this for the Castle's Halloween party.




Here are some of my friends who were at the party. If you can't tell I was dressed as Medusa.

Nathan dressed as Einstein which is very appropriate. And Madalyn was Snow White.

Can you tell that Snow White came out on DVD this year??? All the girls looked so pretty!

Here we are! We loved dressing up and going to the party. It was so much fun!

The whole family! Corbin was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle because he didn't like the Batman costumes that were at Target. So he settled for this. But he has grown to like it.

Where to start???

Well I am sure you have noticed that is has been eons since I last blogged so I am having a hard time deciding where to begin? I have decided to include all of the most important events that hav transpired since the middle of October. So here we go!

Corbin's First School Field Trip:

We went to a farm I can't recall the name of, and we got to do a hayride and choose a pumpkin to take home! :) We also got homemade donuts and some apple cider, which Corbin spilled all over himself :( Unfortunately it was excessively cold and so it was hard to enjoy the time we spent there. However, looking back at the pictures makes me think more fondly of that day than I felt at the time. She is a bit of a cheeseball!

We are sitting on the hayride and Maddy isn't sure she likes this whole cold experience.

Hello! I am alive! I found that teaching sunday school, and pre-school, taking care of two children a house and a husband, as well as taking 4 classes afforded me no time for blogging. But I am happy to report that I am taking the summer off! So I have a lot of catching up to do. Stay tuned for what has been happening since the last time I posted.

Tech savvy

It is amazing to me how technologically minded the new generation is. They are so much more advanced than we. Corbin has been using the computer independently to play games on PBSkids for more than a year now. It is one of his favorite things to do. He has gotten quite good at navigating the website escpecially since he can't read yet. So almost every afternoon I let him play while Madalyn takes a nap and then they play and drink their milk until she is ready to play with him.

I know that in a couple of years he will be showing me how to do things with electronics. And I will be ever so grateful for that. I need all the help I can get ;)

Animal Crackers

When I was little I had a tape with children's songs on it and one of them went like this: "Animal crackers in my soup, monkeys and rabbits, loop the loop, gosh o gee but I have fun, swallowing animals one by one". And another line went something like this "When they're inside me when it's dark, I walk around like Noah's Ark". I like that line :) It is an interesting mental image. So my kids were having lunch and I gave them some animal crackers and they started playing together and singing with their animal crackers. It was so cute! This was when Corbin was still recovering from his hives so it was a while ago. Sorry, school has been eating up my time.

His poor cheeks! But at least he wasn't suffering.
